The difference that a statement can make in the life of a man, woman, or child is nothing short of phenomenal.

Change your mind - change your life!

Personal Development Program

Personal development program knowledge is essential. Whether serious or not most people want to make a personal change of some sort. The orgy of new year's resolutions that peak on 1 Jan, and are usually forgotten by 31 Jan are evidence of that. Everyone enjoys making a resolution, dreaming in effect of a better year with better outcomes. What most resolution makers do not realize is that without a personal development plan any personal development program is not going to get off the ground.

Personal growth and development occur when knowledge, understanding, practice, discipline and determination collide. The rewards speak for themselves. Everyone has a different goal. Weight loss, quit smoking, fitness, career improvement, relationships and so on. The list is as diverse as the people who create those goals.

So get off the ground!

You can start as big or as small as you like -- it is, after all, your program. Whichever route you take ensure that you set yourself up for some early victories. These will spur you on. They'll encourage you to keep going with the bigger goals that take longer. Start to day and become one of the thousands who enjoys success in spite of all the 'nay-sayers'.

Usually, if you have a new idea, you very rarely break through to anything like recognizable development or implementation of that idea the first time around - it takes two or three goes ...

The number of goals you have is not as important as your determination and belief that you'll attain those goals. The limits your personal development program has are the limits that you set. No one can restrict you from attaining the things you set out to achieve for yourself.

The Plan

Create your plan. The best plan is the one that you come up with yourself. No one knows you like you do and no one knows what you really want like you do. The truer you are to yourself and your inner compass, the happier, joyful, and fulfilled you will be. So sit down with a paper and pen or your computer and word processor, and start making notes. Determine your unique gifts, talents, and strengths. Be honest, this is no time for false humility. These same gifts, talents, and strengths can be used to help yourself and others.

Now honesty figure out what obstacles you are likely to face. Where is your opposition going to come from? What might block your success? Examine your motives. Knowing what drives you and gives you purpose will help define the direction your personal development program should go. Write down the ways that you abdicate your responsibility - this is nothing more than giving your personal power away.

Putting all this down on paper will help to clarify what really gets us going and what our individual life is all about. It will also sketch out a rough plan of where we need to grow and develop.

Identify.

The exercise above will highlight the areas in your life that need to change. Now you need to discover ways to address those areas. You may need to learn time-management, or organizational skills, you may need to invest more into your significant relationships, perhaps you need to give vent to some of your creativity. Choose the most important area that you have identified and attack it.
